Digital audit

The digital tax audit and the so-called summary risk assessment by the tax authorities are already in place. This has also changed the requirements for companies with electronic recording and storage of operational processes.

What has changed? The focus on formal errors.

Digital tax audits nowadays have long since ceased in solely assessing material errors. The search for formal errors (compliance with the law governing the principles for the orderly management and storage of books, records and documentation in electronic form and for data access – so-called GoBD act), correct cash management, etc.) and the examination of data from feeder systems (invoicing programs, merchandise management systems, cash register systems, etc.), which legislators have been able to access since 2002, have been increasingly taking precedence. For the tax authorities, these formal errors are relevant because they enable auditors to make an often considerable addition to the annual surplus/profit.
